Anne Philipsborn

Anne began practicing Iyengar yoga many years ago as an antidote to her demanding career at Nike. Initially, she was drawn to how yoga helped her slow down and focus. In yoga, she could let go of the multi-tasking. As she immersed herself more deeply in her yoga practice, she found a new sense of energy and purpose. Her enthusiasm for yoga – and her desire to share it with others – evolved into a desire to teach.

Anne is a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor. She completed teacher trainings with Julie Lawrence and with Nina Pileggi. She apprenticed with Julie Lawrence and with Tonya Garreaud. Anne continues her studies of Iyengar Yoga  here in Portland. She also studies Inner Body Yoga with Todd Jackson, and pursues workshops with senior Iyengar teachers.

Anne is inspired by how yoga draws us from the periphery to the core, and then back out to the periphery. As a teacher, she hopes to provide a safe environment for students to begin or continue their yoga journey. She wants students to explore, discover and experience the joys and benefits of this tradition.

Anne recently completed her term as board chair of the Oregon Public Health Institute, and also serves on the board of the Iyengar Yoga Association – Northwest Region (IYANW) where she’s the chair of the Grants Committee. http://www.iyanw.org

When not immersed in yoga activities, Anne enjoys doing Pilates and spending time in the Gorge with family and friends, as well as hiking, gardening, and cooking, and learning to play clawhammer banjo.
